Hi friends,
Welcome back to the more aptly bi-weekly series where I share little, medium and big things to celebrate and be sanguine about. If you have a story to share, please add something that brings you comfort in the comment section, I would love to know.
ONE BIG THING, please consider subscribe if you have not yet already - that really helps support my page and lets me know that readers are enjoying my work. You can type your email down below.
1. Discovering interesting Substacks publications and essays that have brought me immense delight to learn from and reflect:
Hamish Mackenzie’s essay and declaration on how he changed his title from COO of Substack to CWO (Chief Writing Officer). A not little win for the writers.
How To Be “High Functioning” from the Good Enough publication
Go To School, Get a Good Job essay from the Next Right Thing publication
Expensive Mistakes from Product Lessons
be an asker from Bookbear express (my personal favorite)
2. Settling into my new little life. I had the best of both worlds after living in the Pacific Northwest for two summer months while dodging the Southern heat. I’m back now and am trying to find little joys in the mundane every day life, building roots where planted. Too often, I try to chase the highs and refuse to accept that life consists of both the exciting and monotonous phases.
If you want to ask about Texas weather, yes, it’s hot as hell here. Austin almost broke the record for most consecutive days at 100F+ (38C). This summer ranks fifth out of all time. But it’s beautiful, a warm (literal and figuratively speaking) city that I easily grow affinity for.
3. My URL confidant, little brother and bestie all in one SN was offered a Research assistant position with YSEALI Viet Nam on digital strategy and entrepreneurship. All his hard work pays off, I’m so happy for him.
4. Two of my college friends moved to Austin! Shout out to Minjae for being a super duper cool friend since my junior year of college - growing through and out of business school days together!
5. My three Seattle buddies finished up their summer tech internships this past week with flying colors and recently heard wonderful news. They are one of the smartest kiddos I know, so props to three of them A, B and D ;)
Bonus:
Reconnection with the arts and nature. Writing this newsletter has help me profoundly changed the ways I view everything. I used to have a very toxic relationship with career and how that ties to my personal worth. Writing resolves that and brings clarity to more than I could have imagined - thanks Shayne for pointing that out to me.
So cheers to writing and cheers to all of you who have been reading me rambling on for days. I’ll see you this Friday!
