What I have been reading:
the pathless path by paul millerd
I have been following Paul’s work for a while now and have been familiar with his Pathless Path journey. Reading this book though opens my eyes to a whole new world of familiar trajectory, fears, self-imposed pressure that I have brought onto myself after graduating from a magnet high school and competitive business school.
concepts like world-class hoop jumper, moment of burning out, having pebbles in your shoes as a metaphor for an unsettling feeling that needs resolve (in Paul’s case, it is his career), chasing one job after another feels way too familiar for me.
A practice I like from the book is setting a reminder that pops up every day and shows you your priorities. For paul, they are health, relationships, fun & creativity and career.

Transform gut feelings into words, explaining something people intuitively know is true but haven’t yet put into words. A new way of explaining something the reader already knows can be more powerful than teaching something new, because it generates an “ah-ha” moment without asking them to strain their brains too hard.

Jimmy o yang show
I got to see Jimmy O yang live for the first time in Austin. He was awesome and the show was taped so the audience was absolutely wild. My Seattle roommate Phuong would appreciate this shout out to Phuong :)
